Please Donate for Our Insurance Fund 🌷🌿༄🐞🪻 (ABQP&J and Community Events Further Down Below)

Happy May Day! As we celebrate the change in seasons and all of our accomplishments (see below) we also look forward to challenges ahead, one of them being our annual insurance costs. We need to raise $10,000. This covers our regular Property and General Liability coverage, Participant Accident coverage and Directors & Officers coverage.

Please consider donating to help us cover this cost. DONATE HERE on our website, or pass by The ACP&J and give a check or cash at the front-desk.

In the last year, we have accomplished so much — from scheduling 500 events in our Peace Hall to improving security at the Center to bringing our finances up to industry standards, and onboarding a dozen new front-desk volunteers. We have achieved compliance with City ordinances for the Peace Café and continued our Food Distribution on Saturday mornings. Last weekend, eight volunteers gathered to clean out one of our offices, and it’s almost ready to rent out!

While these costs sometimes may seem superfluous they are in fact essential, and allow us to do our work in good standing in a city we are all deeply invested in and that deserves to be a beacon of peace in the face of a relentless economy of aggression.

Events in the Wider Community

UNM Graduate Union Request - UNM Grad Workers Deserve a Living Wage! UNM grad workers, who teach and grade for tens of thousands of undergraduates and bring in millions in research grants for the university, are bargaining with UNM administration. The union is asking that the community supports grad workers by voicing our support.

The Union requests for us to Call Interim Provost Barbara Rodriguez, Phone Number: 505-277-2611. Script: “Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME], and I’m an Albuquerque community member [or alumni, donor, former faculty or staff]. I’m calling because I support United Graduate Workers at the bargaining table, and I believe all grad workers deserve a living wage. Please be sure to support the union’s priorities, including making sure all RAs get the raise.”

Restore Ampersand’s Watershed - For over two decades, Ampersand Project have dedicated our lives to restoring and caring for the land at Ampersand Sustainable Learning Center. Last year, with the help of a state-funded project, we made significant progress in restoring our watershed and protecting our access road from erosion. However, a new challenge has emerged: The single grade control structure installed in the previous project was not adequate to stabilize the whole channel. It got blown out and a new erosion gully has formed. The lowering of the channel results in deteriorated ecological functions of the watershed.

Please consider donating, volunteering or singing up for their Mentorship Program.
